This is Mario. He is 33 years old and was born in February 1989 as a healthy child. He grew up without any physical or mental handicaps and became a gardener.

When Mario was 25 years old, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. Two years later, he suffered a major epileptic fit that was so bad that he needed resuscitation. The result was a hypoxic brain damage leading to the Lance-Adams syndrome. After several stays in hospital, Mario has been living as a vegetative patient in a nursing home since October 2017.

Mario grew up with a great passion for football and still today, he is a big fan of Borussia Dortmund, a German football club. His whole room is decorated in yellow and black. When Mario needed a new wheelchair base Galileo and a customised seat shell, the colours were beyond question: the colours of the BVB football club! Mario's medical supply store was more than committed and created a wheelchair that was one of a kind. Still today, this wheelchair makes Mario`s heart beat faster.

When Mario saw his Galileo with the upholstered seat shell for the first time, he could not help but beam with joy. Even caregivers and vistors at his nursing home or people passing by in the streets are thrilled about his new wheelchair - and each compliment makes him smile a little broader.
