Children, adolescents, and adults who are unable to stand upright independently due to physical and/or mental disabilities are lifted into a vertical position with the aid of standing aids. These individuals are usually hypertensive, meaning they have significantly increased muscle tension, or hypotensive, meaning they are rather limp with low muscle tension.

There are different types of standing frames. Vertical standing frames, such as the Heidelberg Standard Standing Frame, the Heidelberg Impuls Standing Frame, the Heidelberg Jumbo Standing Frame, and the Heidelberg Benni Standing Frame, position patients directly upright. Back reclining boards such as the Heidelberg Lasse reclining board and the Da Vinci biometric standing system lift the patient from a supine position to an upright position. Mobile standing frames such as our Heidelberg Speeedy standing frame can be moved independently by the patients themselves, thus enabling mobility while standing. In orthopedic technology, there are also orthoses that bring children and adolescents into a standing position and can be combined with standing aids, as demonstrated by the Heidelberg Jumbo standing frame for standing orthoses.
